Job summary

Peraton is seeking a senior Software Engineer in Annapolis, MD, to analyze requirements and design, develop, test, and maintain software applications for a national security program.

You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, implement scalable solutions, and contribute to system integration while ensuring high reliability and performance. A current TS/SCI clearance with polygraph is required, along with extensive SWE experience and a relevant degree.

Qualifications

• Active TS/SCI with a current polygraph is required.
• 14 years’ experience as a SWE in programs of similar scope is required.
• Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Engineering, Management, or a related discipline (Four years of additional software engineering experience may substitute for a bachelor’s degree).
• JIRA & GitLab: Experienced in managing development workflows, issue tracking, and version control.
• Proficient in coordinating Agile/Scrum teams to ensure timely delivery of projects.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user and system requirements to inform software design, performance expectations, and technical feasibility.
• Design, develop, test, and maintain software applications, including enhancing existing systems with new features and capabilities.
• Debug, troubleshoot, and resolve software defects to ensure system reliability and performance.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to align software solutions with broader system architecture and constraints.
• Develop and optimize data queries and database interactions.
• Contribute to system integration efforts across environments, ensuring compatibility and stability.
• Apply algorithmic thinking to meet functional and performance requirements.
• Support testing by developing and executing test procedures for software components.
• Create, review, and maintain clear technical documentation.
• Recommend improvements to development processes and standards.
• Lead small development efforts and coordinate activities for timely delivery.
• Support continuous improvement by identifying inefficiencies and proposing enhancements.
