Job summary

Badger Meter Inc. is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support scalable software powering connected products and digital platforms.

You will mentor engineers, drive architecture, and partner with PM, QA, DevOps, and other teams to deliver high-quality software across the full lifecycle. The role emphasizes technical leadership, architectural guidance, and ongoing innovation, with opportunities to influence standards, security, and performance in SaaS/IoT

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Computer Engineering, or related STEM field.
• 7+ years of professional software development experience.
• Experience designing and developing commercial software applications.
• Strong proficiency in Python, C#, Java, JavaScript, or similar.
• Experience with cloud-based platforms and distributed systems.
• Experience with AI coding tools to accelerate delivery in workflow.
• Experience working in Agile software development environments.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, OOD, testing, and source control.

Responsibilities

• Analyze requirements and translate into technical specifications and designs.
• Develop, test, and deploy high-quality software using modern engineering practices.
• Lead architectural discussions and provide guidance for new features.
• Write clean, maintainable, scalable code and participate in code reviews.
• Mentor junior engineers and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with QA, DevOps, Product, and other teams to ensure successful delivery.
• Support automated testing, CI/CD, and ongoing maintenance.
