Job summary

United States Digital Space LLC in California is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure systems that power our Zero Trust ecosystem and protect company data across environments.

You will collaborate with open source projects, security teams, and product engineers to deliver reliable backend services, mentor junior engineers, and help shape our platform's future while working remotely with occasional office days.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's and/or Master/PhD's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience.
• 5+ years of experience in test driven software development.
• Extensive experience with Go, Python, or Java (Go strongly preferred).
• Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP) and infrastructure as code deployments.
• Experience developing and deploying services in a Kubernetes environment.
• Solid understanding of software architecture and design patterns.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills and the ability to work well within engineering organization and cross functions
• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills.
• Experience leading technical projects and mentoring junior engineers.
• Show motivation for personal growth and learning new technologies to support the team's needs.

The Client and Identity Engineering team is accountable for establishing the user identity and endpoint security infrastructure in the company's corporate environment. Client and Identity Engineering encompass corporate zero trust deployments. Our systems enable all the company employees and partners to have secure access to the data they need at the right time and in the right context. We provide the company employees and partners with the best-in‑class experience, enabling them to effectively build our platform.

The Difference You Will Make

The team works on systems which have higher reliability and security requirements than most backend systems or services. Our products are critical services, downtime across these services can result in downtime for the company employees and partners. In addition, the team collaborates closely with our security engineering teams to design new features and evolve the platforms to meet the engineering challenges as business needs present themselves.

As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build and maintain robust, scalable, and secure systems that underpin the entire the company Zero Trust ecosystem. You will play a pivotal role in the execution for these critical platforms. A Typical Day

• Work with open source products to build the next generation client platform for all the company corporate endpoints.
• Build on our zero trust back end suite, supporting security services, network paths, and user and device signaling, with a mind for enabling value for the business for their best work.
• Support executive level the company staff with endpoint and identity solutions.
• Work with product and engineering teams to optimize endpoints and identity flows for the company employees and partners.

Your Expertise

• Bachelor's and/or Master/PhD's degree, preferably in CS, or equivalent experience
• 5+ years of experience in test driven software development.

Bonus Points

• Experience with microservices architecture.
• Familiarity with Apple MDM spec and its implementation in modern MDM deployments.
• Understanding of authentication and authorization principles and technologies, such as OAuth 2.0, OpenID, SAML, ABAC, and related Zero Trust security protocols.

This position is based in California - ideally San Francisco. The role may include occasional work at an the company office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. How We’ll Take Care of You:

Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

Pay Range

$196,000—$227,000 USD
