Job summary

Google is hiring a software engineer for the Search team to advance large-scale information retrieval and AI-driven improvements across live events, weather, stock quotes, and travel. You will work with teams across Search Verticals, Search Intelligence, and DeepMind to close quality gaps on high-visibility queries and to build robust evaluation frameworks.

Compensation includes a base salary in the US range, a 15% bonus target, equity, and benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of programming experience in Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience with exploratory data analysis using R/Python and SQL.
• Experience evaluating search quality and improving query relevance.

Responsibilities

• Improve Search AI quality in Live Events topics.
• Collaborate with Search Verticals, Search Intelligence, and DeepMind.
• Identify factuality quality gaps across vertical slices.
• Build or enhance automated evaluation to speed error detection.
• Design experiments to improve AI-generated responses and reduce errors.
