Job summary

Google is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to drive the quality of Search AI in Live Events Factuality and Freshness. You will work across Search Verticals, Search Intelligence, and DeepMind to identify quality gaps on high-visibility queries and build automated evaluation tools.

Your work will shape AI models and evaluation methodologies across the Search stack, with opportunities to influence deployment, experimentation, and cross-functional collaboration.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience required.
• 5 years of experience programming in one or more general-purpose programming languages including, but not limited to, Java, C/C++, Python, JavaScript, or Go.
• Experience conducting exploratory data analysis using programming languages (e.g., R, Python) and database querying (e.g., SQL).
• Experience evaluating search quality or user interaction data to improve query relevance and search results.

Responsibilities

• Improve Search AI quality in Live Events factuality and freshness for topics like live sports, stock quotes, weather, and travel.
• Collaborate with Search Verticals, Search Intelligence, and DeepMind to address quality gaps on high-visibility queries.
• Engage in horizontal factuality programs and identify new gaps within vertical slices.
• Develop or enhance automated evals to speed up error detection and self-improvement loops.
• Design experiments to enhance quality and minimize errors in AI-generated responses.
