Job summary

Amplitude in San Francisco is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, iOS, to lead design and development of our core iOS SDKs (Analytics and Session Replay) and to serve as the iOS platform expert across SDK teams.

You will drive technical direction, improve performance and reliability, and raise the bar for developer experience by shaping APIs, tooling, tests, and sample apps, partnering with Product and Support to deliver customer value.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering, with significant iOS development experience.
• Proficiency in Swift and Objective-C, with modern iOS APIs and tools.
• Experience designing public APIs with a focus on stability and backward compatibility.
• Experience debugging across many iOS devices/OS versions.
• Familiarity with performance profiling, memory management, and concurrency on iOS.

Senior Software Engineer, iOS – A key technical leadership role on our DevEx team. In this role you will lead the design and development of Amplitude’s core iOS SDKs, including Analytics and Session Replay, and serve as the iOS platform expert that other SDK teams (Experiment, Guides, Surveys) rely on.

As a Senior Engineer you will have a wide scope and high impact: setting technical direction for the iOS platform, driving cross‑SDK architecture, improving performance and reliability, and raising the bar for developer experience across Amplitude’s mobile ecosystem.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the technical direction, architecture, and long‑term evolution of Amplitude’s iOS SDK platform.
• Own and drive development of core iOS SDKs, including Analytics and Session Replay, with a strong focus on performance, reliability, and ease of use.
• Act as the iOS platform expert and trusted partner for other SDK teams (Experiment, Guides & Surveys), enabling them to build on shared foundations safely and efficiently.
• Design and evolve shared infrastructure, APIs, and abstractions that scale across multiple iOS SDKs.
• Collaborate closely with Product and Customer Support to ensure SDKs meet real customer needs.
• Lead cross‑team technical discussions, reviews, and architectural decisions that span multiple SDKs.
• Improve developer experience through better APIs, documentation, tooling, testing strategies, and sample apps.

Minimum Qualifications

• B.S., M.S., or Ph.D. in Computer Science or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 4+ years of professional software engineering experience, with significant time spent on iOS development.
• Strong proficiency in Swift and Objective‑C, with experience using modern iOS APIs, frameworks, and development tools.
• Experience designing public APIs with a strong focus on stability and backward compatibility.
• Experience debugging complex issues across a wide range of iOS devices and OS versions.
• Familiarity with performance profiling, memory management, and concurrency on iOS.
