Job summary

Waystar seeks a Senior Software Engineer to join our growing team in Atlanta. You will design, build, and implement web and processing applications with a focus on scalable solutions and collaboration with business units.

You’ll work with statically and dynamically typed languages, cloud platforms, and database technologies, contributing to QA, deployment, and refactoring efforts while maintaining strong communication with stakeholders.

Qualifications

• Experience with statically typed/compiled languages (C#, Java, C, Go).
• Experience with dynamically typed/interpreted languages (JavaScript, Python, PHP).
• Experience with Relational Databases (SQL Server, MySQL, PostgreSQL).
• Experience with cloud technologies (AWS, GCP, Azure).
• Experience with version control (Git).
• Experience with unit and integration testing methodologies.
• Experience building highly-scalable software solutions.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and embrace change.
• Preferred: Experience scaling real-time high-availability APIs.
• Preferred: Experience integrating with payment gateways and processors.
• Preferred: Experience with finance and banking processes and concepts.

Responsibilities

• Proposes technical solutions to the Manager, Application Engineering.
• Designs, develops, tests, and implements improvements or new features into the Waystar website and core processing applications.
• Develops/augments applications based on functional and technical specifications.
• Adheres to Waystar coding standards and approved technologies.
• Unit tests changes on development and verifies requirements with Business/Technology Owners.
• Communicates development progress daily to senior team members.
• Takes ownership of work items, provides estimates, and tracks progress in SDLC.
• Assists in QA and participates in Production Code Turn days for deployments.
• Develops and maintains open communication with Management and other team members.
• Identifies areas for refactoring and performance improvements.
