Job summary

Cribl is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to help design and build the next generation of its customer-facing metric store for high-volume telemetry data. You will work on distributed systems, backend services, and APIs for ingestion, storage, and queries across Cribl products.

You’ll partner with Product, Design, and Operations to shape architecture, optimize performance, and ensure reliability in production while aligning with company goals for a scalable observability platform.

Qualifications

• Experience building backend services in large-scale distributed systems.
• Ability to write production code, preferably Node.js/TypeScript.
• Experience with SaaS/dataplatforms/observability systems.
• Experience with time-series data, telemetry pipelines, query systems, or analytical databases.
• Experience designing secure, intuitive APIs for long-term evolution.
• Strong knowledge of Linux, networking, and data structures.

Responsibilities

• Design and build Cribl’s customer-facing metric store for high-volume telemetry data.
• Write clean, maintainable, testable code with a focus on performance and observability.
• Develop backend services and APIs for metric ingestion, storage, and queries.
• Model data/storage patterns for time-series data with high cardinality.
• Collaborate with product/design to translate observability workflows into user features.
• Integrate metric storage and query capabilities into broader product experiences.
• Improve query performance, ingestion throughput, and system reliability.
• Define engineering practices for new product area (testing, deployment, monitoring).
• Coach engineers to own larger technical problems and growth.
• Plan quarterly goals with teams balancing features, debt, reliability, and customer needs.
• Champion full software development lifecycle from design to production support.
• Share on-call responsibilities as part of service ownership.
