Job summary

AHS American Home Shield Corp in the United States seeks an experienced software engineer to own medium-to-large projects across product and technical teams. You will work on the full software stack, write tests and documentation, and drive performance improvements for highly technical systems.

The role requires deep knowledge of data structures, multiple programming languages, and experience with modern DevOps practices (CI/CD, Docker, Kubernetes, AWS).

Qualifications

• Advanced understanding of computer science fundamentals and data structures.
• Ability to debug moderately complex problems and analyze production logs.
• Experience with relational and NoSQL storage options.
• Proficient scripting in Shell, Python, or Ruby.
• Proficiency in languages such as C, C++, Java, Golang, .NET Core.
• Ability to define clear objectives and measure effectiveness of processes.
• On-call availability for service leadership.

Responsibilities

• Write documentation and automated tests for new code.
• Implement automated tests and ensure they pass to coding standards.
• Debug production issues and craft mitigation plans.
• Optimize performance of existing implementations.
• Improve code quality and assist teammates with debugging.
• Build effective data structures and indices for performance, manage third-party integrations.
• Refactor cross-platform components, translate goals into actionable work and deliver results.
• Identify platform quirks and provide quick fixes for performance.
• Collaborate to establish benchmarks and identify bottlenecks with the team.
• Prioritize tasks with Scrummaster to drive team success.
• Propose ideas and work with teams to turn ideas into reality.
• May include other duties as assigned.
