Job summary

Expedia Group is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and operate scalable, low-latency distributed systems that power pricing and marketplace infrastructure. You will own services end-to-end, set best practices for observability and performance, and mentor junior engineers across teams.

Proficiency in Java/JVM languages or Rust, strong API and data modeling skills, and experience with microservices are highly valued.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
• 8+ years of experience, highly proficient in Java/JVM languages (Scala, Kotlin) or systems languages like Rust.
• Demonstrated ownership of services or components through technical design, implementation, quality, and operational health.
• Strong system design (LLD), API design, and data modeling skills, with experience in microservices architectures, automated testing, and CI/CD.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and own scalable, resilient services end-to-end from system design, API design, and data modeling through implementation, testing, deployment, and operational support.
• Drive technical direction by evaluating trade-offs and setting best practices for code quality, observability, and performance, while mentoring and coaching junior engineers to help them grow.
• Collaborate with product, design, and partner engineering teams to deliver integrated, reliable, scalable solutions.
• Proactively resolve production issues and improve system reliability through automation and monitoring.
