Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Sr. Software Engineer (Starshield) in Hawthorne to help build reliable software for satellite systems and ground operations.

You will write Linux-based C++ for diverse processors, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and contribute to mission-critical software used in national security space assets. The role emphasizes end-to-end software lifecycle, from design and prototyping to testing and on-orbit support, with preference for candidates who can obtain Top Secret

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or other STEM + 5+ years software dev OR 7+ years with no degree.
• Development experience in C/C++, Python, or similar languages.

Responsibilities

• Create highly reliable software systems that control hundreds of satellites in low earth orbit.
• Leverage software design to improve satellite constellation performance, security and availability.
• From needs to prototype, development, testing and on-orbit rollout and beyond.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to design next-gen satellite capabilities.
