Motion Recruitment Partners LLC is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to connect AI/ML models with robotics and automation systems. You will build real-time software for industrial robots, motion control, machine vision platforms, and automation hardware.

The ideal candidate ships software that controls physical hardware in production and collaborates with ML and mechanical engineers to ensure latency, performance, and safety requirements are met.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of robotics/automation software experience in production environments.
• Experience with ROS/ROS2 and real-time software on embedded hardware.
• Proficient in C/C++, Python for tooling and automation.
• Experience with industrial communication protocols: EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus, Profinet.
• Embedded interfaces: SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, GPIO.

Job description

This client is hiring for a Senior Software Engineer that can build the layer that connects AI/ML models to robotics and automation systems. This role focuses on building real-time software for industrial robots, motion control systems, machine vision platforms, and automation hardware.

The ideal candidate has experience shipping software that controls physical hardware in production environments. You'll work closely with the machine learning engineers and mechanical engineers to build reliable systems that operate under real-world performance, latency, and safety requirements.

Required Skills & Experience

• 5+ years of experience developing software for robotics, automation, embedded, or physical systems
• Strong proficiency in C and C++
• Python experience for tooling, testing, and automation
• Hands-on experience with ROS and ROS2 development
• Experience integrating industrial robotic systems and controllers
• Experience implementing industrial communication protocols such as EtherCAT, CANopen, Modbus, or Profinet
• Familiarity with embedded communication interfaces including SPI, I2C, UART, CAN, and GPIO
• Experience developing software for Real-Time Linux or RTOS environments
• Strong debugging skills across software, firmware, hardware, and systems integration
• Experience with source control, code reviews, automated testing, and CICD practices

Desired Skills & Experience

• Machine vision or camera system integration experience
• Familiarity with OpenCV or similar computer vision frameworks
• Motion control, servo tuning, and trajectory planning experience
• Experience with ML inference frameworks such as TensorRT, ONNX, or TFLite
• Exposure to simulation environments including Gazebo, Isaac Sim, or MoveIt
• Knowledge of functional safety standards applicable to industrial or robotics systems
