Job summary

Anthropic is seeking an experienced software engineer to join the Research Productivity organization in New York. You will design, build, and scale infrastructure for accelerating research, partnering with researchers to anticipate evolving needs and drive cross-org alignment.

You will independently scope multi-month projects, make architectural decisions, and mentor engineers while ensuring reliability and scalability of critical systems as demand grows.

Qualifications

• Experience designing, building, and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Track record of independently scoping and delivering complex multi-month projects.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and hands-on coding ability.
• Experience making architectural decisions that other engineers and teams build on top of.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and scale infrastructure and systems that support rapidly increasing usage.
• Independently scope and lead complex, multi-month engineering projects from start to production.
• Drive cross-organizational alignment on technical direction with multiple stakeholders.
• Make architectural decisions that shape the foundation of research infrastructure.
• Partner with researchers to understand workflows and future needs.
• Iterate quickly with first-principles solutions and fast feedback loops.
• Take ownership of reliability and scalability as load grows.
• Help set technical standards and mentor other engineers.
