Job summary

Ascend Learning, a leading healthcare and learning technology company, seeks a Senior Software Engineer for the Healthcare Workforce Solutions group to shape the Laudio product and technology stack using React, Node.js, TypeScript, and AWS.

You will design scalable systems, write code end-to-end, mentor others, and drive continuous improvement in a remote-first environment with occasional East Coast in-person collaboration and travel to Nepal for deeper collaboration.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Bachelor’s degree preferred.
• 5+ years of experience as a Software Engineer.
• Proven ability to lead projects from ideation to implementation in an iterative, agile environment.
• Strong experience building frontend applications with React and Typescript.
• Expertise building scalable distributed systems using microservices architecture with Node and Typescript.
• Strong database skills incl. SQL performance tuning, schema design, and relational DB management.
• Experience building cloud-native apps on AWS or Azure.
• Strong fundamentals in Agile, Scrum, CI/CD, test automation, feature flagging, and observability.
• Passion for high-quality, maintainable, scalable code.
• Ability to monitor and troubleshoot production apps under pressure.
• Strong communication skills for stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Architect scalable solutions—design, develop, deploy software that is highly available, performant, and scalable.
• Hands-on coding across the full stack to drive our roadmap.
• Mentor through code reviews and design discussions.
• Innovate and improve tech and processes.
• Be the glue across areas like feature development, code optimization, and production troubleshooting.
