Job summary

Focus is a fully remote digital services firm delivering impactful civic tech projects across the U.S. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will work across the stack to build Playwright automated UI and API test suites, develop Python data setup scripts, and design self-service React front-ends while shaping CI/CD pipelines in AWS.

You will guide external vendor teams, help debug multi-vendor issues, and advance modern CI/CD practices in a FedRAMP-enabled, cloud-first government ecosystem.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional experience developing full-stack applications and tooling using TypeScript and Python.
• Experience writing and maintaining CI/CD pipelines and using Terraform for infrastructure as code.
• Experience designing complex systems that interact with multiple external services, databases, and third-party APIs.
• Proven experience in agile teams and communicating tech updates to clients.
• Familiarity with federal government digital service projects or civic tech programs.

Responsibilities

• Architect, build, and maintain scalable E2E automated tests using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Develop Python scripts for dynamic test data setup and synthetic profiles.
• Create React + TypeScript front-ends for vendor and government stakeholders to generate test scenarios.
• Build and optimize CI/CD pipelines; ensure quality gates and secure deployments.
• Lead sprint triage to debug cross-vendor issues and isolate root causes.
• Provide code reviews and mentoring to uplift team standards.
• Serve as technical liaison to client leads and external vendors to enable self-service and smooth releases.
• Support Terraform-driven cloud updates and automated security scanning for FedRAMP compliance.
