Job summary

Coinbase is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the Overseer team in FinHub. You will build and scale real-time integrity layers that enforce financial correctness across fund flows, and own end-to-end workstreams from design through production.

You will collaborate across FinHub, Payments, and Trading to implement correctness contracts and mentor others on distributed systems and production reliability in a remote-first, hybrid-work environment.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of experience building and operating large-scale distributed systems in production.
• Experience with backend programming and platform-level infrastructure (APIs, frameworks, or detection systems).
• Experience with streaming data infrastructure (Kafka, Flink, Spark) and real-time data stores (Postgres, DynamoDB).
• Ability to own workstreams end-to-end in ambiguous environments and produce production-ready systems.
• Knowledge of generative AI usage with human oversight to improve workflows.

Responsibilities

• Build and scale real-time invariant enforcement systems across fund flows.
• Own workstreams end-to-end, from design to production operation.
• Develop AI-powered guardrails and invariant discovery to prevent incidents.
• Partner with FinHub, Payments, and Trading teams to design correctness contracts.
• Mentor junior engineers on distributed systems design and production practices.
