Job summary

Toast is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help build the Toast Delivery Services platform. This role is hybrid, preferably in Boston or New York, with openness to US East Coast remote work.

You will design and scale services that power driver assignment, pricing, and delivery status in real time. You’ll work with Kotlin/Java, PostgreSQL, and microservices, shaping systems where timing and accuracy impact real-world customers.

• Design and implement scalable, resilient systems for delivery services.
• Deliver reliable services to production with a focus on correctness and performance.
• Work with product and design to ensure pricing, refunds, and money movement are accurate.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and maintain highly resilient and scalable systems critical to our customers' success.
• Build the real-time backbone that keeps restaurants and guests confident about order status and delivery timing.
• Collaborate with product managers and designers to ensure money movement is correct from delivery pricing to refunds.
• Tackle scaling challenges and implement robust solutions.
• Advocate for best coding practices and raise the bar for the team and the company.
• Mentor and provide technical guidance to other team members.
