Job summary

VTG Defense in Hanover, MD is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, and sustain secure, high-performance software for national security missions. You will work across front-end, back-end, data processing, and real-time systems using C, C++, and Python to deliver scalable solutions that integrate with RF hardware and mission systems.

The role requires U.S. citizenship with TS/SCI with Poly, a bachelor's in a technical field, and extensive full-stack software experience.

Qualifications

• US Citizen with TS/SCI with Poly required.
• Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline.
• A minimum of 20 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Extensive full-stack software development experience.
• Experience developing Python applications, scripts, or tools within the SWORD environment.
• Experience developing software for communications systems and RF-related domains.
• Experience translating operational requirements into software design and performance specifications.

Responsibilities

• Analyze user, system, and mission requirements to derive software design, interface, and performance requirements.
• Design, develop, modify, test, integrate, and maintain complex software applications and mission-system components.
• Perform full-stack software development across front-end, back-end, data-processing, and system-integration components.
• Develop Python applications, scripts, and automation within the SWORD environment.
• Debug existing software, conduct root-cause analysis, and optimize performance for real-time systems.
• Collaborate with systems, hardware, signal-processing, and RF engineers to define interfaces and performance expectations.
• Create and maintain software design documentation, test procedures, and engineering deliverables.
