Job summary

Pony.ai in Fremont, CA seeks a Senior Data Engineer to design and optimize end-to-end data pipelines, large-scale data processing, and real-time infrastructure for autonomous mobility systems.

You will build high-performance backend services, collaborate across teams on evaluation metrics and simulation environments, and advance infrastructure with open-source technologies to ensure low latency and reliable production operations.

Qualifications

• BS/MS/PhD in CS or related field
• Experience with large data sets and real-time systems
• Strong foundation in math and CS theory

Responsibilities

• Design and build end-to-end data processing pipelines and toolchains for large-scale data collection and evaluation
• Design and implement high-performance backend services and distributed architectures for real-time event processing
• Collaborate across teams to lead design of system-level evaluation metrics, testing frameworks, and simulation environments
• Leverage open-source distributed technologies to advance infrastructure capabilities and processing efficiency
• Drive architectural decisions with emphasis on security, stability, and scalability
• Establish system monitoring, observability metrics, and automated alerting for reliable production operations
• Build and optimize downstream workflows for LLMs, steering model reasoning and mitigating hallucinations
