Job summary

SpaceX is seeking a Principal Software Engineer, Power Optimization (Starlink) to develop high-performance, safety-critical software for thousands of satellites. You will model satellite power and thermal behavior, optimize payload utilization, and drive end-to-end software lifecycle from development to deployment.

Responsibilities include building optimization algorithms, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, and ensuring reliability and performance in production environments.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/Engineering with 8+ years of software optimization experience, or 10+ years of software optimization experience in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency in C/C++ or Rust.

Responsibilities

• Write reliable ground and vehicle software to control thousands of satellites in LEO.
• Develop constellation optimization algorithms with engineers across disciplines.
• Design future satellite constellations and build simulations for rapid iteration.
• Own the complete lifecycle of your code—from development to monitoring.
• Participate in code reviews and maintain high code quality.
