Iru is hiring a Senior Software Engineer, Core Services in a hybrid Miami, FL environment. You will help scale Iru’s critical infrastructure across product lines and build self-serve capabilities and shared services such as the API Gateway and service mesh.

You will collaborate with multiple teams to decompose monoliths, improve deployment strategies, and ensure reliability while delivering secure, scalable software for a fast-growing B2B SaaS company.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (Go, Python, Java, or similar).
• Experience in a B2B SaaS company with multiple product lines.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Deep understanding of service-oriented architecture and microservices best practices.
• Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines and infrastructure automation.
• Familiarity with APIs (REST/gRPC) and API gateways (Kong, AWS API Gateway).
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration (Kubernetes/ECS).
• Experience with observability tools (tracing, logging, monitoring).
• Security and compliance best practices in cloud environments.

The Opportunity

As a Senior Software Engineer, Core Services, you will help scale the critical infrastructure that powers Iru’s multiple product lines. Reporting to the Senior Manager of Engineering for Platform, you will work on the scalability, reliability, and security of Iru’s core shared services as our customer base, traffic, and product surface grow. This core platform team focuses on enabling rapid innovation by developing and maintaining foundational components that support our broader engineering organization.

You will collaborate closely with other development teams to decompose monolithic applications into well-structured services that scale independently, build self-serve infrastructure capabilities, and develop shared services that enhance developer productivity. The Core Services team owns and maintains essential components such as the API Gateway, Service Mesh, and Continuous Integration/Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) pipelines. This role requires participation in an on-call rotation to ensure platform stability and reliability.

• Scale the Platform: Design and evolve core services to handle growth in customers, devices, and traffic, and plan capacity ahead of demand instead of reacting to it.
• Build and Maintain Core Services: Design, develop, and optimize critical infrastructure components, ensuring they are secure, scalable, and maintainable.
• Improve Reliability: Implement best practices for system architecture and operations, ensuring high availability and performance.
• Drive Innovation: Collaborate with cross‑functional teams to identify opportunities to enhance the developer experience and introduce new services that accelerate product development.
• Enable Engineering Excellence: Define and implement best practices in software engineering, CI/CD, and observability.
• Optimize Performance: Analyze and enhance system performance, ensuring low latency, high throughput, and minimal downtime.
• Participate in On-Call Rotation: Ensure the reliability and uptime of mission‑critical services by participating in on‑call duties and responding to incidents as needed.
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Strong proficiency in backend programming languages (e.g., Go, Python, Java, or similar).
• Proficiency with AI‑driven development methods, such as using AI coding agents to plan, write, test, and review code, with the judgment to verify their output.
• Experience working in a B2B SaaS company with multiple product lines.
• Deep understanding of service‑oriented architecture and microservices best practices.
• Prior experience in a fast‑paced environment.
• Proficiency with cloud platforms such as AWS or GCP.
• Ability to identify problems/opportunities, break them down into critical parts, and design scalable solutions.
• Proven experience scaling production systems, such as handling significant growth in traffic, data volume, or number of services.
• Hands‑on experience with CI/CD pipelines, infrastructure automation, and deployment strategies.
• Familiarity with content delivery networks (CDNs) and caching strategies.
• Strong knowledge of RESTful APIs and/or gRPC.
• Experience writing unit and integration tests to ensure high-quality software.
• Experience with Docker and container orchestration platforms such as Kubernetes or ECS.
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases such as Postgres or MySQL.
• Strong experience with peer code reviews, offering and receiving constructive feedback to maintain and elevate coding standards.
• Experience with API gateways (e.g., Kong, AWS API Gateway).
• Familiarity with service meshes (e.g., Dapr, Linkerd, Istio).
• Experience with event‑driven architectures and message brokers (e.g., Kafka, Kinesis, RabbitMQ).
• Hands‑on experience with MQTT and IoT protocols.
• Experience with observability tools and practices, including distributed tracing, logging, and monitoring.
• Familiarity with security and compliance best practices in cloud environments.
