Job summary

Sierra Nevada Corporation seeks a Software Engineer III to lead the design, development, and optimization of complex software systems for aerospace applications. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure software meets stringent performance and quality standards.

The role supports an enterprise UI component library, internal tooling, and platform interfaces, with a hybrid work model and travel as needed. A bachelor's in CS/Software Eng and 6+ years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field.
• 6+ years of experience in software development.
• Higher level relevant degree may substitute for experience.
• Proficiency in programming languages such as C++, Java, or Python.
• TypeScript/JavaScript (with React preferred) and at least one backend language (Python, Go, Java).
• Experience working in multi-disciplinary teams.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and maintain the enterprise UI component library for use across SNC web applications
• Operate the private package registry (npm, PyPI, Maven, etc.) that secures and distributes internal artifacts
• Create and maintain application templates and scaffolding tools that enable teams to bootstrap production-ready services in minutes
• Build and continuously improve the Internal Developer Portal (IDP) — a single pane of glass for service catalog, docs, templates, and platform tooling
• Develop and maintain shared SDKs and platform libraries that standardize how teams interact with SNC infrastructure
• Write and maintain developer documentation, guides, and enablement content
• Collect developer feedback and measure developer productivity metrics (DORA, SPACE) to drive improvements
• Partner with Platform Engineering and AI teams to surface platform capabilities through the IDP
