Senior Software Engineer – Physics Simulation – Defense

A frontier AI and defense technology company backed by significant funding is hiring a Senior Software Engineer to build the next generation of physics‑based simulation capabilities used to support mission planning, force design, and operational analysis.

Working alongside experts in software engineering, physics, AI, and defense, you'll develop the simulation frameworks and models that enable customers to evaluate complex real‑world scenarios before making critical decisions. From platform and sensor modeling to event‑driven simulation architecture, you'll help build software that underpins next‑generation modeling and simulation systems.

This is a hands‑on, deeply technical role focused on designing and building high‑performance simulation software in modern C++ and Python. You'll develop extensible simulation frameworks, implement physics and operational models, and help scale distributed simulation environments across cloud and on‑premises infrastructure while ensuring performance, accuracy, and maintainability.

Experience Required:

• 7+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong experience developing production software in modern C++, with Python for tooling or automation
• Experience building or extending simulation frameworks, game engines, robotics, autonomy, digital twin, or other complex modeling systems
• Experience with event‑driven, discrete‑event, agent‑based, or distributed simulation architectures
• Strong understanding of software architecture, algorithms, testing, and performance optimization
• Proven technical leadership and ability to own complex engineering projects

Highly desirable:

• Experience with AFSIM, STK, OneSAF, HLA, DIS, or similar modeling and simulation environments
• Experience developing physics‑based models for sensors, communications, electronic warfare, RF systems, or weapons
• Experience supporting defense, aerospace, or government programs
• Active Security Clearance or eligibility to obtain one
