Job summary

Global Payments is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join the Gordian Knot team, focusing on a high-volume payment platform. You will design, build, test, and deploy scalable software, collaborating with cross-functional teams to deliver new features and maintain reliability.

You will work on legacy monoliths while modernizing toward microservices, with responsibilities spanning design, development, and production deployment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, computer science or related discipline.
• 7+ years of relevant experience in Java software engineering (excluding internships).
• Strong design skills and SQL/Java programming proficiency.
• Ability to translate business goals into technical solutions.
• Experience with microservices, RESTful APIs, and cloud tech like Kubernetes and Kafka.
• Familiarity with monitoring and self-healing platforms and scalable systems.
• Experience with AWS, OpenShift, and tools like Jira, Maven, Gradle, Jenkins, Snyk, SonarQube, Cucumber, Karate.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, and test software for a high-volume, high-availability platform.
• Collaborate with Product, Platform, Merchant Services and Support to translate requirements into solutions.
• Apply Agile practices and test-driven development to maximize quality.
• Deploy new features to production with zero downtime and no customer impact.
• Build domain expertise in e-commerce payments and develop new features.
• Work in a team-focused culture with strong collaboration and communication.
