Job summary

Order.co is hiring a Senior Software Engineer for the Payments team to own money-movement features like virtual-card issuance, invoicing, bank connections, and reconciliations. You will design end-to-end solutions, mentor junior engineers, and contribute to architecture decisions critical to secure, scalable payments software.

Based in New York with a hybrid work model, you will collaborate with Finance, Operations, and Credit teams to ensure robust reconciliation and vendor reporting.

Qualifications

• Strong foundation in CS fundamentals: data structures, algorithms, system design.
• Expertise building production-grade Ruby/Rails apps and services.
• PostgreSQL/SQL modeling with query optimization and performance tuning.
• Web app security, observability, and scalable architecture knowledge.
• Design, build, and maintain secure APIs.
• Experience with external integrations: REST/GraphQL, webhooks, event pipelines.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement complex, multi-part features from requirements to production.
• Own subsystems in the payments stack (ledgers, cards, invoicing, bank connections).
• Write clean, test-covered code with money-movement paths in mind.
• Review code and plan architecture with stability and security in view.
• Diagnose production issues and ensure reliable deployments and monitoring.
