Job summary

Harvard University is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to design, develop, test, and support complex Oracle APEX applications and REST‑based services for the Faculty of Arts and Sciences. The role spans the full application lifecycle and involves collaboration with stakeholders and teams.

You will lead technical discussions, ensure secure coding practices, contribute to architecture, and participate in Agile sprints.

Qualifications

• Minimum of five years’ post‑secondary education or relevant work experience.
• Five or more years of professional software development experience in Oracle, APEX, SQL/PLSQL, HTML, CSS, and JavaScript.
• Experience with Oracle REST Data Services, Git, and structured deployment tools.
• Experience with Agile methodologies, preferably Scrum.
• Strong knowledge of application security and secure coding practices.
• Ability to translate requirements into secure, scalable, user‑focused solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test, implement, and support Oracle APEX applications and related database objects.
• Lead technical design discussions and contribute to architectural decisions for scalability and security.
• Analyze business requirements and translate them into secure technical solutions with stakeholders.
• Develop and maintain integrations via RESTful APIs and Oracle REST Data Services.
• Perform code reviews and promote development standards and documentation.
• Participate in Agile processes, including backlog refinement, estimation, and sprints.
• Troubleshoot production issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement durable fixes.
• Contribute to platform upgrades, security remediation, and modernization initiatives.
• Evaluate emerging technologies and AI-assisted tools to improve productivity and quality.
