Job summary

Snowflake invites a senior software engineer to advance Observe by Snowflake within the OpenTelemetry ecosystem. You will design OTel collectors, contribute to OSS discussions, and own the Observe Agent distribution, shaping its architecture and release strategy.

You will help define semantic conventions, collaborate with product and field teams to translate customer needs into upstream features, and represent Snowflake in the OTel community around conferences and cross-vendor collaboration.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of software engineering with meaningful OpenTelemetry involvement.
• Strong Go programming and familiarity with at least one SDK language (Java, Python, JS/TS, or .NET).
• Experience contributing to open-source with multi-vendor governance and RFCs.
• Experience building cloud-native services with AWS, Azure, or GCP.
• Passion for open-source software and telemetry ecosystems.

Responsibilities

• Design and implement OTel Collector components (receivers, processors, exporters) and SDK instrumentation libraries.
• Collaborate with the OpenTelemetry community by contributing code, RFCs, and reviews.
• Architect and own the Observe Agent distribution, including its extension points and release strategy.
• Contribute to OpenTelemetry semantic conventions and standardized telemetry schemas.
• Work with product and field engineering to translate customer needs into upstream contributions.
• Represent Snowflake/Observe in the OTel community and engage with maintainers at other vendors.
