Job summary

SciTec seeks a Sr Staff/Senior Software Engineer to support Missile Defense Solution software in an operational setting. You will work onsite at Buckley Space Force Base, Aurora, focusing on troubleshooting, performance, and reliability of critical mission systems.

Ideal candidates have 6+ years in software engineering, strong Linux experience, and a DoD clearance or ability to obtain one, with a track record of high-quality code and customer-facing support.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, mathematics, physical sciences, or a related technical field.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DoD security clearance.
• 6+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 3+ years of professional experience working in Linux environments.
• Solid understanding of software engineering best practices and commitment to high-quality code.
• Demonstrated performance optimization skills for data-intensive or compute-intensive systems.
• Ability to work onsite in-person at Buckley Space Force Base in Aurora, Colorado.
• Effective communication skills and attention to detail.

Responsibilities

• Support the availability, reliability, and performance of operational services supporting critical mission systems.
• Monitor health of software infrastructure using metrics, logs, and alerts; respond to and resolve incidents; maintain and enhance monitoring, logging, and alerting solutions.
• Perform root-cause analysis for infrastructure and service outages; implement corrective and preventative actions; participate in post-incident reviews.
• Improve system reliability through automation, standardization, and proactive engineering.
• Support software system lifecycle activities including upgrades, patches, and configuration changes.
• Improve performance, scalability, and reliability of existing software systems.
• Apply strong understanding of data structures, algorithms, and performance trade-offs.
• Support integration, testing, and debugging in Linux environments.
• Support documentation, knowledge sharing, training, and clear communication across the organization.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
