Job summary

ALSO is building a next-generation navigation stack for electric mobility. We’re seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Mapping, to own end-to-end navigation from routing to rendering, across cloud, mobile, and vehicle software.

You’ll work with firmware, mobile, and product teams to define interfaces and design low-latency systems that integrate Google Maps, Mapbox, HERE, and TomTom for real-time guidance. Based in Palo Alto, this role emphasizes ownership and impact.

Qualifications

• Backend engineering in a production-grade environment.
• Architect and ship complex systems in a fast-moving startup.
• Latency-sensitive real-time system design experience.
• Experience with mapping/navigation platforms and integrations.

Responsibilities

• Own the implementation of the flagship navigation experience from routing to rendering.
• Integrate with external mapping APIs to power route planning and directions.
• Collaborate with firmware, mobile and product teams to define interfaces.
• Design robust, low-latency APIs and cloud systems for location and routing.
• Handle edge cases like offline fallback and route recalculation.
• Define BLE protocols and rendering constraints for hardware displays.
• Mentor and contribute to engineering culture and practices.
