Job summary

Google is seeking software engineers to advance networking for GKE and GDC, focusing on scalable platforms and distributed systems. You will work on Kubernetes networking, Open vSwitch, and kernel-level components to empower cloud workloads and AI/ML tasks.

Role involves collaboration with product and leadership teams to shape roadmaps, contribute to OSS projects, and deliver enterprise-grade networking solutions on Google Cloud.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent practical experience.
• 5 years of software development experience in Go, C, or Python.
• 5 years of experience with network architectures and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, BGP).
• 5 years of experience with network design, implementation, and troubleshooting.
• 3 years of experience with large-scale infrastructure, distributed systems, or compute/storage hardware.
• Experience with Cloud compute platforms (e.g., Kubernetes, Cloud Functions).
• Master's or PhD preferred in CS or related field.
• 5 years of experience with data structures and algorithms.
• Experience with cloud environments.
• Familiarity with Linux kernel networking concepts and Linux/Windows kernel networking.

Responsibilities

• Participate in or lead design reviews to decide among technologies.
• Triage product or system issues and debug/resolve impacts on hardware, network, or service operations and quality.
• Design and implement new networking features for AI/ML workloads in GDC and Kubernetes platforms.
• Design and develop network connectivity solutions for hybrid/multi-cloud environments.
• Engage with the open source community to influence Kubernetes networking direction.
