Job summary

Citi in New York, NY is seeking a Senior Software Engineer (Java/Python) to build scalable applications for mortgage technology, using Java, Python, Docker, Kubernetes, OpenShift and AI capabilities. You will collaborate with business units to deliver data-driven solutions.

The role emphasizes design, coding, and CI/CD, plus mentoring junior analysts and delivering production-ready software with limited supervision.

Qualifications

5-8 years of relevant experience.
Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related STEM field.
Extensive knowledge of Java, Python and container orchestration platforms.
Experience in systems analysis and programming of software applications.
Experience in managing and implementing successful projects.
Working knowledge of consulting/project management techniques/methods.
Ability to work under pressure and manage deadlines or unexpected changes.

Responsibilities

Design and deliver scalable, Java and Python-based applications supporting the mortgage trading business, analytics, workflows and reporting.
Partner with business, risk, product and cross-functional technology groups to integrate platforms and enable new products.
Monitor and control all phases of development, design, testing, and implementation with user support.
Apply AI and GenAI capabilities to modernize workflows and unlock insights in mortgage tech.
Resolve high‑impact, complex initiatives through analysis of processes and standards.
Apply engineering standards for coding, testing, CI/CD, debugging, and production readiness.
Serve as advisor or coach to new or junior analysts.
