Grid Dynamics is seeking a Backend/Big Data Engineer to help modernize data platforms and build backend services for large-scale analytics and AI-driven applications. You will work with Java, AWS, Kubernetes, and cutting-edge Big Data technologies to design scalable data pipelines and robust APIs.

The role emphasizes practical implementation, CI/CD practices, and collaboration within a team of industry experts on high-impact projects. Onboarding occurs in person with travel as needed.

Qualificações

• Strong proficiency in Java backend development with REST services and production troubleshooting.
• Experience with Big Data analytics frameworks and data formats such as Iceberg or Lance.
• Hands-on experience with AWS cloud services and Kubernetes.

We are looking for a skilled Backend / Big Data Engineer to join a technology modernization initiative focused on building scalable data and AI-driven applications. You will work primarily with Java, Big Data technologies, AWS, and Kubernetes, helping modernize existing data platforms and develop backend services that support large-scale analytics and AI search capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Participate in design and development of Big Data analytical applications
• Design, support and continuously enhance the project code base, continuous integration pipeline, etc.
• Write complex ETL processes and frameworks for analytics and data management
• Work inside a team of industry experts on cutting-edge Big Data technologies to develop solutions for deployment at massive scale

Requirements

• Strong proficiency in Java backend development, particularly REST services and production troubleshooting
• Experience working with Big data for Analytics or ML data in data formats like Iceberg, Lance formats using processing frameworks like Spark, Flink are required
• Experience with AWS cloud services and infrastructure
• Hands-on experience with Kubernetes
• Understanding of performance and scalability aspects of distributed systems
• Ability to design and implement robust API solutions
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field.

Nice to have

• Familiarity with workflow management tools like Airflow
• Knowledge of modern data architecture like data lakes and data lakehouses
• Experience with version control systems, CI/CD practices, and testing frameworks
• Proficiency in Scala or Python (complementary to Java skills)
