You will collaborate with scalable engineering squads, containerize apps, and modernize deployments while advancing security and observability practices aligned with client needs.

Qualifications

• Extensive hands-on Java, TDD and production-grade code delivery.
• Strong framework experience with Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Experience with infrastructure automation and configuration management (Ansible).
• Deep understanding of automated testing strategies and AI-assisted testing tools.

Responsibilities

• Conduct hands-on technical interventions with dev teams to accelerate safe releases.
• Build robust automated test suites and data sourcing/masking strategies.
• Design and implement automated Continuous Delivery pipelines and database migrations (Liquibase).
• Containerize applications and upgrade runtimes/frameworks; enable local testing.
• Manage dependency updates and implement secrets management and security controls.

We are partnering with a Tier 1 global financial institution on a strategic enterprise-wide mission to accelerate software delivery, modernize release infrastructure, and improve application resilience. As a technology solutions provider, our engineering teams work on high-impact client initiatives to transform how critical systems are tested, secured, and deployed.

In this role, you will act as a hands‑on technical practitioner and evangelist for Continuous Delivery, automated testing, and safe, repeatable deployments. Blending Software Engineering, DevOps, and Site Reliability Engineering (SRE), you will be roughly 70% hands‑on with coding and configuration—embedded directly with client development teams to solve release bottlenecks, eliminate manual overhead, and drive a modern "shift-left" engineering culture.

Responsibilities

• Targeted Team Engagements: Conduct hands‑on technical interventions with software engineering teams facing challenges in achieving rapid, safe releases or resolving security vulnerabilities.
• Automated Testing & Data Management: Build robust, local‑first test suites (including deployment smoke tests) and implement compliant test data sourcing, masking, and integration strategies.
• Pipeline & Deployment Engineering: Design and implement automated Continuous Delivery pipelines, automated database migrations (e.g., Liquibase), and infrastructure automation (e.g., Ansible).
• Application Modernization & Containerization: Containerize applications for seamless local testing and deployment, and upgrade key runtimes (primarily Java and NPM) and core frameworks (e.g., migrating legacy Spring applications).
• Dependency & Security Management: Implement continuous dependency management tools (such as Renovate) to keep libraries up to date, enforce secrets management, and improve security, authentication, and authorization practices.
• Observability & Resilience: Standardize logging, overhaul exception handling, establish standard observability patterns, and implement resilient multi‑datacenter deployment strategies.
• Engineering Best Practices: Introduce streamlined branch management, optimize code review workflows, and establish modern source control standards across teams.

Requirements

Essential

• Java & TDD Expertise: Extensive hands‑on experience with Java, Test‑Driven Development (TDD), and the ability to write high-quality, maintainable production code.
• Framework Experience: Spring Framework and Spring Boot.
• Configuration Management: Ansible for infrastructure and software automation.
• Testing Strategy & Automation: Deep understanding of automated testing strategies—selecting the right test types and leveraging AI tools to drive efficient, high‑coverage testing outcomes.
• JVM Ecosystem & Tooling: Strong proficiency with JVM languages, build tools (Gradle, Maven, npm), and Linux environments (RHEL). TypeScript experience is a plus.
• Containers & Orchestration: Solid working competence with Docker, Kubernetes, or OpenShift.
• CI/CD & Deployment Architecture: Fluency across multiple CI/CD systems, along with a firm grasp of safe deployment patterns, observability, and cross‑datacenter resilience.
• Security & Modern Development: Knowledge of secure coding standards and active adoption of modern AI‑assisted engineering tools.
• Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or similar field.
