Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, software engineering, or related field; 3+ years software engineering experience.

  • Experience delivering full software lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Experience integrating AI/ML components and generative AI tools.

Walmart is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to lead the delivery of scalable, secure software solutions through collaborative engineering teams. This role involves managing the full software development lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and ongoing support of services, APIs, and AI/ML components. About Team: Item Read Orchestrator. Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization. The Walmart Item Orchestrator team is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic and talented group. You'll collaborate with passionate engineers to deliver a top-tier site experience that scales to handle millions of queries per second across billions of items. As a team, we innovate and build features on technologies such as Java, Rust, reactive programming, Kafka, Cassandra, caching, Resilience4J, and Kubernetes. Our focus is on delivering high-throughput, low-latency systems where every millisecond matters.

What you'll do

  • Write clean, efficient, and reliable code across multiple languages, driving full software development lifecycle including CI/CD and automated testing.
  • Integrate AI and ML components to enhance software intelligence and development innovation.
  • Participate in solution design, evaluating trade-offs and ensuring scalable, secure, and maintainable systems.
  • Conduct code reviews, debugging, and defect management to maintain high-quality deliverables.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally to translate business needs into technical requirements and measurable outcomes.
  • Monitor application performance and support continuous improvement through proactive testing and observability.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Option 1: Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 3 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • Option 2: 5 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Computer Information Systems, Software Engineering, or related area and 1 year's experience in software engineering or related area.
