Job summary

Ignite Digital is seeking a Software Engineer III in the Charleston, SC area to support a cybersecurity project for the U.S. Navy.

The role demands deep experience in designing, writing, testing, and optimizing complex software systems, with leadership in architecture evaluation and hands-on implementation. The ideal candidate will lead technical efforts, mentor teams, and ensure engineering standards across projects, while operating in a secure development environment aligned with RMF/ STIGs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in computer science or mathematics.
• Eligible for DoW TS/SCI upon hiring.
• At least five (5) years of directly related experience.
• Knowledge of full lifecycle application and systems development.
• Experience with software engineering, system programming, modeling, and database development.
• Ability to code in at least three modern programming languages.
• Experience with DoW or Federal programs.
• Familiarity with secure development environments, RMF, STIGs, Zero Trust.

Responsibilities

• Participate in all phases of software engineering, including design and optimization.
• Perform full lifecycle design and development with robust architecture.
• Assess system architecture and suggest modern development concepts.
• Define design specifications ensuring scalability and interface compatibility.
• Resolve complex interface and hardware/software compatibility issues.
• Conduct requirements analysis to support decisions.
• Research emerging technologies and evaluate impact on performance.
• Model systems and perform database design and testing.
• Create and maintain technical documentation and training materials.
• Support integration testing across operating systems and networks.
• Provide customer support for software issues and client meetings.
