Job summary

Sony’s Engagement Platform Services (SEPS) team is seeking a Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to build and enhance internal applications that power fan engagement across Sony’s entertainment ecosystem.

You will contribute to both frontend and backend development, collaborating with product managers, designers, and engineers to deliver secure, scalable software in a fast-paced environment. Prioritize quality, mentorship, and robust documentation.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of professional experience with medium/large code bases.
  • Experience in Full Stack development and REST API design.
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript ecosystem and frameworks (React/Angular/Ember, Jest, Babel, TypeScript).
  • Knowledge of UI/UX design principles and strong collaboration skills.
  • Willingness to work in a fast-paced, cross-functional team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Architect, design and develop RESTful API endpoints prioritizing performance and maintainability.
  • Collaborate with frontend engineers to build dynamic, responsive web applications.
  • Define data models and database schemas, manage relational/NoSQL databases for performance.
  • Create and maintain documentation for architecture and deployment.
  • Provide accurate task estimations and participate in sprint planning.
  • Contribute to on-call rotation ensuring system stability.
  • Mentor junior engineers and promote a culture of learning and quality.
  • Maintain honesty and ethical conduct in all work practices.

POSITION SUMMARY

SEPS is looking for a talented and motivated Senior Full Stack Software Engineer to join our team in building and enhancing internal applications that drive the Sony Engagement Platform. In this role, you'll play a key part in delivering secure, scalable, and user-centric solutions that support Sony's global business units.

As a Senior Engineer, you'll contribute to both front-end and back-end development efforts, helping to design and implement high-quality software systems. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams including product managers, UX designers, and fellow engineers to bring innovative features to life. This role is ideal for engineers who enjoy solving complex problems, take ownership of their work, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Architect, design and develop RESTful API Endpoints, ensuring high performance, scalability and maintainability.
  • Collaborate closely with front-end engineers to build dynamic, responsive, and user-centric web applications that deliver seamless user experiences.
  • Define robust data models and database schemas, and manage relational or NoSQL databases with a strong emphasis on data integrity and performance optimization.
  • Create and maintain clear, comprehensive documentation for application architecture, design, configuration, and ongoing maintenance.
  • Provide accurate task estimations and delivery timelines, contributing to effective sprint planning and execution.
  • Participate in the on-call rotation, responding promptly to production issues and ensuring system stability and uptime.
  • Mentor and support junior engineers, fostering a culture of learning, collaboration, and continuous improvement within the team.
  • Honesty, trustworthiness and ethical conduct are material requirements for the responsibilities outlined above
QUALIFICATIONS FOR POSITION
  • 5+ years professional experience working with medium/large complex code bases
  • Experience in Full Stack development
  • Experience with one or more of the following programming languages: Java, Go, or Python
  • Experience in REST API design and implementation
  • Highly Proficient in HTML, CSS, the JavaScript ecosystem and familiarity with popular frameworks like React, Angular, Ember, Jest, Babel, and TypeScript
  • Knowledgeable in UI/UX design principles
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Desire to collaborate and to develop strong and positive team relationships
  • Attention to detail, organizational skills, a strong work ethic and the ability to work independently.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field, or at least three years of proven experience in lieu of a degree
  • Demonstrated ability to write clean, maintainable, and well-documented code.
  • Database management, cloud technologies (AWS), and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
  • Knowledge of React best practices
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and practices, including CI/CD pipelines
  • Automated deployment tools (e.g. Terraform, Ansible, Jenkins)
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail
  • Experience with Agile development methodologies such as SAFe, Scrum
  • Experience developing software solutions that support e-commerce, digital commerce, or direct-to-consumer (DTC) platforms
  • Exposure to personalization, recommendation engines, customer identity management, subscription services, or digital payment platforms is a plus.
  • Knowledge of APIs, microservices, cloud-native architectures, and integrations commonly used in e-commerce ecosystems.
