Job summary

Collins Aerospace is seeking a Senior Software Engineer for the GPS‑Based Positioning, Navigation and Timing Service (GPNTS) program. You will own software development, drive integration, and shape architecture for mission‑critical shipboard systems.

Onsite in San Diego, you will mentor junior engineers and lead secure, Agile development across multiple engineering disciplines. You will collaborate with systems, hardware, cybersecurity, and test teams while advancing CI/CD, testing, and

Qualifications

• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Proficiency in C/C++, Python, or Java.
• Experience in Linux environments and Linux command‑line tools.
• Experience participating in Agile development practices.
• Experience integrating navigation sensors, timing signals, distributed messaging, or data fusion.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain a DoD security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead design, development, enhancement, and sustainment of core software components for the GPNTS navigation data system.
• Perform advanced debugging, root‑cause analysis, and resolution of complex software issues.
• Architect, implement, and optimize automated testing and CI/CD workflows.
• Produce technical documentation, interface definitions, and design review artifacts.
• Lead Agile ceremonies and contribute to backlog refinement and sprint planning.
• Promote secure coding practices and DevSecOps methodologies.
• Coordinate with systems, hardware, cybersecurity, and test teams for robust shipboard integration.
• Mentor junior engineers and perform code reviews.
• Support configuration management, audits, and external customer engagements.
