Job summary

General Dynamics - IT in the United States is seeking a Senior Software Developer to design, build, and deliver mission-critical software for a government customer. You’ll own architecture end to end and drive deployments from code to containerized runtimes.

You will work across the stack in Go and Rust, with Linux, shell, and CI/CD, applying AI-assisted development tools, and partner with security and operations to ensure reliability, maintainability, and mission success.

Qualifications

• 8+ years of professional software development experience
• Proficiency in Go and/or Rust, Linux and shell scripting, including kernel-level understanding
• Experience designing and architecting software/systems for secure, distributed environments
• Experience with containerized development and CI/CD pipelines (Docker/OCI)
• Hands-on experience with AI-assisted or agentic coding tools

Responsibilities

• Architect full end-to-end software systems and services, defining structure and interfaces
• Design, develop, and modify enterprise software across the full development lifecycle
• Create architecture diagrams, design documents, and technical patterns
• Write production-grade software in Go and Rust, plus scripting for automation
• Develop automated tests and contribute to front-end work when needed
• Package, build, and deploy containerized applications in GitOps-enabled environments
• Plan and monitor deployments, ensuring software reliability
