Job summary

nCino is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Global Banking Solutions engineering group in Wilmington, NC. You will lead development across the full software lifecycle, influence architectural decisions, and mentor teammates while delivering high-quality software for financial institutions.

The role emphasizes scalable, maintainable design, collaboration with product and design teams, and hands-on automation and testing expertise in a hybrid on-site setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field; 5+ years of experience/proficiency.
• Proficiency in at least one major programming language.
• Experience with version control systems (e.g., Git) and collaboration tools.
• Demonstrated commitment to quality and continuous improvement.
• Strong problem-solving skills; ability to work independently and in teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Provide input on architectural decisions and guide team members around best practices.
• Incorporate automated tests into applicable tickets and mentor team on automation strategies.
• Lead brainstorming sessions and propose innovative ideas and solutions.
• Identify opportunities and lead proof-of-concepts to demonstrate key functionality.
• Consider scalability and maintainability as high-level design takes shape.
• Identify risks and provide mitigation strategies.
• Help choose technologies and tools used for the project.
• Be a technologist with understanding of multiple languages, frameworks, and tools.
• Design code aligned with the overall service architecture.
• Keep abreast of developments and introduce new approaches.
• Understand data model and product design.
• Facilitate communication and collaboration inside and outside the team.
• Involve in automated testing and improve best practices and metrics.
• Understand adoption and release barriers to entry for the product and technology.
• Support PM and team in developing a strategic launch and release plan.
• Promote cross-team collaboration for end-to-end solutions to market and Go-live activities.
• Prioritize the system hygiene backlog to improve product and developer experience.
• Mitigate new hygiene through code reviews and adherence to coding standards.
• Manage software dependencies and stay informed about industry updates.
