Job summary

Jobtailor is seeking an experienced backend engineer to develop and scale Java applications and microservices, leveraging Spring and AWS cloud services. You will design robust APIs, contribute to architecture, and collaborate with product and cross-functional teams to drive growth initiatives.

The role requires hands-on coding, architectural input, and mentoring while working with onshore and offshore teams to deliver complex releases and improvements.

Qualifications

8 years designing and implementing Java applications across multiple phases.
Experience building backend services and distributed systems.
Experience building microservices using Spring Framework.
Experience with AWS Cloud Services including ECS, Load Balancers, S3, IAM Roles, Aurora RDS, DynamoDB, Lambda, Glue.
Containerization with Docker and Kubernetes.
REST APIs and client-side JavaScript framework familiarity.
Understanding of Agile development practices and SDLC.
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams, including offshore groups.

Job description

Develop high-performing, scalable, and available backend infrastructure.
Contribute to and continually improve site architecture, feature components, development process, SDLC tools, and system design.
Translate product requirements and technical designs into well-engineered, low-defect, robust code.
Research new technologies or methodologies that can improve architecture, user experience, or development process.
Participate in code reviews, listen to feedback, and share knowledge with team members.
Collaborate with product, sales, customer-support, and other departments to implement new growth initiatives.
Identify performance bottlenecks and propose and implement effective solutions.
Participate in architectural and software development activities.
Manage complex releases and code management.
Conduct software analysis, testing, programming, and debugging.
Use static code analysis tools to implement web best practices and standards.
Mentor the team to debug and assist in resolving technical spikes.
Work with offshore teams and guide them on product development.
Work closely with the Chief Architect.

Requirements

Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis without the need for employer sponsorship now or in the future.
BS/BA in a technical field such as Computer Science or equivalent experience
Relevant Experience of 8 years designing and implementing Java applications across various phases.
Experience building backend services and distributed systems.
Experience building microservices using Spring Framework.
Experience with AWS Cloud Environment and AWS Cloud Services including ECS, Load Balancers, Fargate, S3, IAM Roles, Aurora RDS, Dynamo DB, Lambda, Glue, etc.
Exposure to Containerization with tools like Docker and Kubernetes is required.
Experience with APIs (REST)
Understanding of client-side JavaScript frameworks
Knowledge of Agile development practices
Solid grasp of software engineering fundamentals and their practical applications
Ability to collaborate across multiple teams, on and offshore, and be willing to roll up your sleeves and execute!
Experience in using other Java libraries to support reactive programming, Redis API, AWS SDK, and Localstack is a plus.
Understanding how to use Terraform for IAC is a plus.
