Walmart Global Tech in Hoboken, NJ is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to own delivery of distributed services and lead architectural decisions. You will design highly available microservices, mentor engineers, and partner with product teams to translate needs into production outcomes.

The role emphasizes operating excellence, on-call ownership, telemetry, and performance tuning within a fast-moving Agile environment.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of software engineering experience (or equivalent depth).
• Strong experience with microservices, event-driven architecture, and messaging systems (Kafka or similar).
• Strong Azure experience (including CosmosDB).
• Hands-on experience with SQL and NoSQL datastores.
• Proven production ownership: on-call, diagnostics, performance tuning, and reliability improvements in distributed systems.
• Strong system design skills and experience operating in fast-paced Agile delivery environments.
• Supply chain / fulfillment domain knowledge (WMS/WES/FC operations exposure is a plus).
• Ability to leverage AI tooling/agents to accelerate development and troubleshooting.
• A strong ownership mindset—able to independently drive solutions from problem statement to production outcomes.

Position Summary

As a Senior Software Engineer, you’ll be a hands‑on technical leader who designs and delivers critical distributed services, raises engineering standards, and drives operational excellence. You’ll work closely with product managers and partner teams, lead technical design discussions, and mentor engineers while owning delivery for complex features end-to-end.

About Team

The Fulfillment Engineering team is a strong, globally distributed group building and operating Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) for Walmart’s rapidly expanding U.S. eCommerce Fulfillment Center (FC) network. Our platforms power High Velocity Fulfillment Centers and Next Generation Automated Fulfillment Centers—among the largest and most advanced fulfillment operations in the world.

Compensation

The annual salary range for this position is $108,000.00 - $216,000.00. Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
