Job summary

Amazon in Arlington, VA is seeking a Sr. Software Development Engineer to lead fulfillment planning and execution systems. You will own end-to-end design and delivery of large-scale distributed software that supports AWS compute fulfillment and capacity management.

You will architect solutions to detect deviations, explain root causes, and drive corrective actions. The role requires mentoring peers, collaborating across demand planning and operations, and delivering reliable, scalable software

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship software development experience.
• 5+ years programming in at least one language.
• 5+ years leading design or architecture of new and existing systems.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate large-scale distributed systems that power AWS infrastructure fulfillment planning and execution.
• Architect solutions that detect and explain deviations between build plans and execution outcomes, enabling proactive intervention.
• Drive technical vision and strategy for plan-to-execution convergence — making planning and execution progressively more aligned.
• Write high-quality, modular, testable code and set the standard for engineering excellence on the team.
• Solve complex architecture and business problems with extensible, scalable solutions built on native AWS services.
• Formally mentor engineers on design, coding, operational excellence, and troubleshooting.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with demand planning, supply chain operations, and partner engineering teams in a global environment.
• Influence technical decisions across the broader Infrastructure Supply Chain Automation organization.
