Job summary

Tines is seeking an engineer to help build and evolve complex workflows across frontend, backend, and infrastructure. You’ll contribute from day one, write high-quality code, and ship features that customers rely on daily.

You’ll work in a small, collaborative team using Ruby and TypeScript, with a focus on fast feedback, robust design systems, and continuous improvement. Target compensation is competitive at 200–225k USD per year for U.S. roles, with visa sponsorship not available.

Qualifications

In This Role, You’ll

• Work closely with colleagues to build the right solutions to the problems our customers face.
• Make valuable changes in our codebase in your first week, and see them live in production minutes after merging them.
• Write and review high quality, well tested code to ensure a stable product and a stress‑free codebase.
• Identify areas for improvement in our codebase and processes, and share responsibility for making the team better.
• Own the problems you’re solving and the software you write, from production through customer feedback.
• Shape and evolve our design system, building high‑quality components that are robust, performant, and reliable.

At Higher Levels Of This Role, You Will Also

• Mentor other engineers, providing support and guidance to help them grow.
• Help prioritise our roadmap, identifying how to use time pragmatically and effectively.

Projects You Might Work On

• Improve Tines navigation and overall user experience.
• Take ownership of areas in our design system and collaborate with designers to create a high‑quality component library for all teams.
• Collaborate with Product and Design teams to build entire product features such as a command bar, in‑product notifications, app and page collections from early tech plans to final UI fixes.
• Create a Tines story to automate tracking of design system changes in Figma.
• Write a blog post to share something interesting learned with the community.

Is This Role Right for You?

You’ll need to be comfortable with a high‑level programming language and able to build a small command‑line program that makes decisions based on JSON input. Our main languages are Ruby and TypeScript; familiarity with them is a plus but not required. We value curiosity and an eagerness to learn more than prior experience or formal education.

Cybersecurity knowledge is not required, though we take application security seriously. The role is broad; you’ll work across frontend, backend, and infrastructure, pitching in wherever needed.

Target Annual Compensation: 200-225k (U.S. roles only). Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S.; we do not sponsor visas.
