Front End Engineer, CAVA Retail Team

As a Senior Software Engineer with CAVA, you will be diverse; from building new UI components and writing well-tested business logic for our web customer experience, to improving customer ordering flows and architecting reliable experiences that leverage third-party integrations. You will work to solve the ever-changing needs of the business. CAVA looks for engineers with a product mindset, who empathize with the customer on the experiences they are building. We work closely as a talented team every day to bring the vision to life.

What You'll Do:

• Collaborate with designers, strategists, and other engineers to turn ideas and concepts into technically robust products.
• Write high-performing, testable code, sharing best practices.
• Work across several problem spaces, building great products that will have a lasting impact for CAVA.
• Write code using unit tests, pull requests, code reviews, and continuous integration to ensure quality.
• Make sense of business objectives and infrastructure needs—and know when and how to make technology choices that balance both.
• Participate in daily standups and use Agile techniques to ship products iteratively in small, self-organized teams.

The Qualifications:

• Multiple years of success throughout the entire software development lifecycle.
• Ability to translate long-term strategy and short-term initiatives into effective code and problem-solving solutions.
• Experience solving issues in a fast-paced, solution-oriented team environment.
• Strong communication skills for both technical and non-technical audiences.
• Proficiency in React, TypeScript, Next.js, and front-end state management tools.
• A commitment to continuous learning.
• Flexibility in providing appropriate technical solutions.
• Experience with git, pull requests, and GitHub.
• Experience in web animations and motion design.
• Ability to build reusable code shared across projects.
• Understanding of CSS preprocessors (SCSS, Sass, Less).
• Experience designing accessible web applications.

Optional Skills:

• Writing good unit tests and documentation.
• Knowledge of React Native, Swift, Objective-C, Java for Android.
• Experience with front-end build tools (webpack, Babel, Gulp, Grunt).
• DevOps experience (Docker, Kubernetes, logging, monitoring, incident response).
• Knowledge of distributed systems and architecture for horizontal scaling.
• Understanding of functional programming and immutable data structures.

Physical Requirements:

• Ability to operate a computer and office equipment while stationary.
• Ability to analyze and assess details effectively.
• Occasional ability to move or transport items up to 50 pounds.
