We are looking for an experienced Senior Frontend Engineer to join the International Technology team. This hands‑on role requires exceptional coding skills, a passion for technology and engineering excellence, and the ability to guide and mentor a team of engineers. You will play a key role in defining and maintaining our technical architecture with lead architect, ensuring alignment with business goals and scalability requirements.

About Team:

Our team works closely with our US stores and eCommerce business to better serve customers by empowering team members, stores, and merchants with technological innovation. From groceries and entertainment to sporting goods and crafts, Walmart U.S. offers an extensive selection that our customers value, whether they shop online at Walmart.com, through one of our mobile apps, or in-store. Focus areas include customers, stores and employees, in-store service, merchant tools, merchant data science, and search and personalization.

What You’ll Do
  • Full Stack Development: Spend 75-80% of your time engaging in hands‑on coding for both frontend and backend systems. Perform thorough code reviews, debugging, and optimization. Ensure high code quality and adherence to best practices.

  • User Interface Design: Utilize your proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, ReactJS, and Webpack to build responsive and dynamic user interfaces. Implement and customize CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundation to enhance the visual appeal and functionality.

  • Site Speed Optimization: Focus on optimizing site speed and performance, ensuring fast load times and efficient resource utilization. Use various techniques to enhance page performance.

  • Browser Storage & Memory Management: Manage browser storage effectively and optimize browser memory usage to ensure smooth and efficient web application performance.

  • Node.js Expertise: Leverage your strong hold on Node.js for server‑side JavaScript, developing scalable backend services and ensuring seamless integration with frontend applications. Implement efficient data processing and handle asynchronous operations effectively.

  • Backend Development: Design and develop RESTful APIs, ensuring robust and secure communication between frontend and backend systems. Work with databases, both SQL and NoSQL, to manage data storage and retrieval efficiently. Apply performance optimization techniques and security best practices.

  • Mentoring & Learning: Provide mentorship to junior team members, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth. Lead by example and encourage knowledge sharing within the team.

  • Architecture & Design: Stay abreast of emerging frontend and backend technologies, make strategic architectural decisions, and maintain comprehensive documentation. Drive the architectural vision for both frontend and server‑side systems.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with cross‑functional teams to enhance user experiences and ensure seamless integration. Facilitate effective communication and collaboration across departments.

  • App Health, Quality, and Performance: Prioritize application quality, respond swiftly to feedback, improve performance, and address critical issues proactively. Implement best practices for monitoring and maintaining application health.

  • Tech Initiatives & Innovation: Contribute to technological advancements and innovation within the team. Champion new ideas and drive the adoption of cutting‑edge frontend and backend technologies.

  • Time Management & Planning: Develop detailed project timelines, manage tasks efficiently, and practice effective time management. Ensure timely delivery of high‑quality projects.

  • Engineering Excellence: Focus on meticulous, detail‑oriented work, conduct rigorous code reviews, and resolve complex technical challenges. Uphold the highest standards of engineering excellence.

  • Leadership: Provide strategic technical guidance, lead and manage projects, and coordinate with other teams to achieve successful outcomes. Exhibit strong leadership qualities and mentor junior team members.

What You Will Bring
Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in HTML, CSS, and JavaScript for frontend development.

  • Expertise in frontend technologies including ReactJS and Webpack.

  • Deep understanding of site speed optimization techniques and best practices.

  • Experience with CSS frameworks such as Bootstrap or Foundation.

  • Proficiency in managing browser storage and optimizing browser memory usage.

  • Strong hold on Node.js for server‑side JavaScript and associated backend development.

  • Experience in designing and developing RESTful APIs for robust and secure communication between frontend and backend systems.

  • Proficiency with databases, including both SQL (e.g., PostgreSQL, MySQL) and NoSQL (e.g., MongoDB) solutions.

  • Knowledge of asynchronous programming and event‑driven architecture in Node.js.

  • Familiarity with performance optimization techniques for backend systems to ensure high responsiveness and low latency.

  • Understanding of security best practices for protecting against vulnerabilities and ensuring data integrity and privacy.

  • Experience with containerization tools such as Docker and orchestration platforms like Kubernetes.

  • Proficiency with version control systems (e.g., Git) and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience with cloud‑native technologies (GCP/Azure) and DevOps practices.

The annual salary range for this position is $117,000.00-$234,000.00

Additional compensation includes annual or quarterly performance bonuses.
