Job summary

Joby Aviation in Santa Cruz, CA is seeking a Senior Software Engineer, Flight Simulator, to join a small, fast-moving team responsible for the architecture, design, and implementation of a high-fidelity flight training simulator for an electric aircraft.

You will collaborate with engineers, data scientists, pilots, and stakeholders, focusing on C++ development, object-oriented design, multi-threaded systems, and integration of external interfaces from suppliers; note that this role excludes

Qualifications

University degree in computer science or computer engineering; 7+ years industry experience. An advanced degree and 5+ years experience will be considered.
Expert knowledge of object-oriented programming methodology and multi-layered system architectures.
Expert knowledge of C++.
Expert knowledge of multi-threaded systems.
Experience with modern integrated development environments and debuggers.
Basic understanding of version control technologies.
Exposure to Python.

Responsibilities

Design, develop, and integrate software for the flight training simulator across areas like IOS, AAR/debrief, motion-base, sound, IG, and control-loading.
Integrate numerous external interfaces from internal and external suppliers.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to deliver a high-fidelity training device.
