Joby Flight Research in Santa Cruz/Concord, CA, is seeking a Software Integration Engineer to own the bring-up, integration, and checkout of GNC and flight automation software on test aircraft.

You will develop flight test cards to characterize performance, triage squawks, and support readiness reviews. Strong C++ and Python skills, plus real-time systems experience, are essential for this fast-paced role.

Qualifications

• 2+ years of experience and a bachelor's degree.
• Experience near hardware and debugging in integrated environments.
• Experience with real-time or safety-critical software systems.
• Solid understanding of software engineering fundamentals, including networking, fault tolerance, and system design.
• Proven ability to learn and apply new technologies quickly.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• U.S. export control compliance requires US Person status.

Responsibilities

• Own bring-up, integration, and checkout of GNC and flight automation software on test aircraft.
• Develop and execute flight test cards targeting GNC performance, stability margins, and autonomy validation.
• Triage flight test squawks and coordinate fixes with discipline engineers.
• Support flight readiness and test readiness reviews and configuration management.
• Develop and maintain test frameworks and automated testing tools for software/systems.
• Contribute to flight controls and mission management software (C++) as needed for tests.
• Develop Python analysis tools for pre-flight prediction and post-flight evaluation.
• Correlate simulation predictions with flight data to improve models.
• Develop and optimize embedded software across hardware-software boundaries.
