Job summary

Schwab Technology Services is seeking a senior software engineer to join the Order Management & Risk Technology team, delivering scalable Java-based solutions for digital assets and trading operations. You will work in an Agile team to design, implement, and maintain robust systems used by millions of trades daily.

The role emphasizes collaboration across geographies, strong problem-solving, and ensuring secure, reusable code.

Qualifications

• 5+ years software development in Java, J2EE and web programming.
• Experience with OOAD/OOD, distributed systems, real-time processing, relational databases, messaging systems.
• IDE experience, preferably IntelliJ.
• Experience developing APIs and frameworks.
• Concurrency and multi-threading expertise.
• Strong knowledge of data structures, algorithms and GoF patterns.
• Experience with version control (Bitbucket, GitHub).
• Experience using AI to aid software development lifecycle.
• Strong analytical and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Performs product design & troubleshooting exercises of extremely high complexity requiring analysis.
• Interacts with developers from other teams and supports integration efforts.
• Leads system design, specification development, testing, debugging, and documentation.
• Leads complex programming tasks, reviews tasks and provides solutions.
• Contributes in client/technology interactions for solution development.
• Interfaces with Enterprise Architecture & Infrastructure on strategic designs.
• Leads troubleshooting in development and production environments.
• Mentors junior engineers and directs development tasks.
