Job summary

Mercury is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to help own the Mercury card platform end-to-end, from issuance to reporting. You will work on full-stack features, collaborate with product, design, operations, risk, and compliance, and mentor other engineers to improve code quality and reliability.

You should be strong in systems thinking, make architectural decisions, and care about correctness in high-stakes financial systems, with a product mindset and comfort with Haskell and TypeScript or

Qualifications

Candidate has strong full-stack experience and a product mindset.
Ability to make architectural decisions on complex systems and explain trade-offs.
Comfort mentoring others and driving quality through reviews and collaboration.

Responsibilities

Lead projects from idea to tech spec to implementation to launch, coordinating with PMs and engineers.
Learn how debit/credit card workflows (authorization, clearing, settlement, disputes) work under the hood.
Build features across the stack from user-facing card experiences to backend money-movement systems.
Maintain operations with high observability and reliability.
Mentor engineers and raise engineering quality through reviews and collaboration.
Collaborate with product, design, operations, risk, compliance, sales, and other teams.
