Senior Software Engineer

As a Senior Software Engineer at Fern, you’ll build APIs, scale AI infrastructure, and design developer experiences that reach millions of people.

Responsibilities

• Scale infrastructure to keep up with growth: Work on AI systems deployed on Vercel, AWS, and Turbopuffer that must be performant, reliable, and secure under real-world load.
• Stay close to customers: Work directly with API teams at companies like Nvidia, Twilio, and Square. Debug real production edge cases, shape APIs based on customer feedback, and ship improvements quickly.
• Collaborate across the stack: Partner closely with product designers and frontend engineers working in TypeScript and Next.js to define polished interfaces and slick user experiences.

Qualifications

• You have 3+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• We’re building open source and we care deeply about taste — we’re looking for builders that know developer experience is a craft.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills to solve technical problems with customers.
• Bonus: Experience building with TypeScript.

Compensation

The reasonably estimated base salary for this role ranges from $200,000 to $250,000, plus a competitive equity package. Actual compensation is based on the candidate's skills, qualifications, and experience.
